📦 [Bogo’s 10-Year eBay Seller Tips]

Why Is My New Account Getting Banned So Fast?

Lately, I’ve had a flood of messages in our seller groups:

“Bogo, I just opened my new eBay account, and it got banned right away.”
“All I did was log in, and eBay said I’m permanently suspended — no warning, no explanation.”

Even veteran sellers are contacting me about sudden policy strikes — accounts they’ve operated for years, even with high sales volumes, wiped out overnight.

Let me be very clear:
The #1 thing in eBay operations is account stability and avoiding MC011 or platform-level suspensions.

Today, I’m going to share what I’ve learned in 10 years on eBay — tips for beginners, those hitting a growth wall, or anyone trying to avoid catastrophic bans.

I’ll break this series into 15 essential knowledge points to help you protect and grow your account.
Let’s start with Tip #1: How to Properly Log In and “Warm Up” Your Account.

✅ Tip 1: Initial Login & Account Warm-Up (aka “Stealth Browsing”)

🔧 Step-by-Step Instructions:

When you first open a new eBay account, do NOT rush into listing products!

Many new sellers get banned simply because they don’t understand how strict eBay’s early-stage algorithms are.
If you bulk upload 20 listings on Day 1, you’ll probably get suspended within hours — and eBay won’t explain why.

They’ll just say:

“Based on internal policies and risk assessment, this account will be permanently suspended.”

To avoid that fate, here’s what you need to do:

✅ Step 1: Warm up the account for at least 4 full days

  • Log in immediately after creating the account.

  • Stay consistently online for 4 days straight (yes, seriously).

  • Spend at least 30–60 minutes per day doing natural buyer actions:

    • Browse random product categories (preferably household items).

    • Use the search bar.

    • Add at least 10 products to your watchlist or cart.

    • Avoid any risky categories (knives, adult products, branded items).

This helps eBay’s system “see” you as a real human, not a bot or dropshipping farm.

✅ Step 2: Keep your environment stable

  • Leave your computer ON and eBay logged in the entire time.

  • Do NOT disconnect your Wi-Fi or change your IP — eBay will flag it as a login anomaly.

  • Use one fixed IP address per account.

  • Only use one device per account — do not check your eBay on mobile or another PC.

🔍 Why Does This Work?

eBay doesn’t just rely on what you sell — it looks deeply at how you behave:

eBay Algorithm Checks Why it matters
Do you act like a real person? Clicking, browsing, and carting items builds trust.
Is your IP/device stable? Changing devices or IPs signals risk.
Are you bulk uploading early? Big red flag — looks like bot farms or stealth accounts.
Are you mimicking mass sellers or automation? Triggers detection for account farming or policy abuse.

🧠 In short:

Warming up = building trust.
The more natural you behave, the more eBay trusts your account and gives you visibility.
