šŸ“¦ [Boge’s 10 Years of eBay Experience – Part 2]

Episode 2|Just Registered Your eBay Account? Don’t Rush to Sell – Safety First!
Today, let’s talk about the most important thing when running a new account – account safety. It’s not about rushing to list products or make sales. Your top priority should be making sure the system sees you as a normal consumer.
āš ļø This isn’t superstition – it’s a conclusion drawn from years of real-world experience.

āø»

šŸ” 1. Main Goal for a New Account: Make the Platform Think You’re ā€œHumanā€

The first layer of eBay’s algorithm tries to determine whether you’re a consumer or a seller. If you start uploading products immediately, the system might flag you as a high-risk seller.

So what should you do? Mimic the behavior of a regular buyer:
• Browse different product categories every day
• Add items to watchlist, like listings, or add to cart
• Occasionally click on ads and explore suggested products

Keep this up for at least 5 consecutive days before uploading any listings.

🧨 If you upload dozens or hundreds of products right away, the system is likely to detect unusual behavior and trigger an MC999 restriction.

Once a new account receives the MC999 email, it’s basically done. I’ve been there — don’t repeat my mistakes!

ā˜ ļø 2. Avoid ā€œSensitive Categoriesā€ or You Won’t Last Long

āŒ 1. Illegal Electronics (e.g., electronic toothpicks)

These were trendy a few years ago but are illegal under Australian law. Platforms crack down hard, and you could face legal consequences.

āŒ 2. Adult Products

Unless you’re a registered business with official account manager approval and can provide all required documents, don’t go near these.
Even if approved, upload one by one, not bulk listings.

āŒ 3. Knockoffs / Counterfeit Goods (e.g., replicas, fake branded items)

No need to explain – listing unauthorized branded products is a major violation.
You might get away with it at first, but once platform enforcement catches up (often after a month), your account could be suspended or permanently banned, and your funds frozen.

āŒ 4. Luxury Goods (Not Recommended for New Accounts)

New accounts lack seller history and performance data. Listing high-value items too early will raise red flags.
You’ll likely face algorithmic scrutiny, restrictions, manual reviews, or even suspension.

āø»

šŸ“Œ 3. In Summary: Act Like You Know Nothing

If you want your account to survive, grow, and eventually profit, pretend you’re a clueless buyer at first:
• Don’t list products
• Don’t rush into selling
• Don’t take shortcuts
• Build a track record as a ā€œreal userā€ for 5 days first
